iPads Make Me Slack

I’m on a bit of a mini vacation so I went back into not posting for a little bit. The first part involved going to Raleigh, NC for about 4 days to see the town, decide if I want to move there, and also attend WordCamp Raleigh on Saturday and Sunday. Sunday I did not end up attending as I had a cold and a massive earache upon waking up (it was also raining quite heavily early on and I had a 7.5 hour drive back to Atlanta that day). WordCamp was interesting. It was my first one and I can say that a lot of the information was useful. While I do not run my own business I can’t say that the information isn’t able to be applied to other situations where you would be using your blog or helping a company promote their website and build their brand and business. It was definitely worth my time.
While in Raleigh I was able to snag an iPad at the Apple store at the mall and it’s part of the reason I haven’t been updating. When I’m bored all I do is mess around on it and find new apps. When the thing was announced I was pretty critical I’ll admit. After getting money for graduation though I figured that it would be handy as an ereader. With iBooks, Barnes and Nobel, and Amazon’s store all available for the thing, it allows me to shop around as well as browse the web and stay entertained without having to lug around a laptop. I knew I wanted it when I shelled out 500 dollars for it, but after actually getting it and using it for the past week and a half it has proven to be a very nice addition to my laptop, “desktop” (stationary laptop connected to monitor), and smart phone.
I’m in Atlanta for my brother’s graduation from High School (c/o 2010, VT c/o 2014) and it’s been pretty uneventful. Lots of rain off and on and not many people in town. Earlier in the week I received a call from my first phone interview (before I posted all of my resume, etc. on here) and they mentioned that I would be getting an application. The application is essentially round two of the hiring process but I don’t think I’ll know for sure if I have a face-to-face interview until two weeks from June 5th and won’t know if I got hired until nearly the end of the month. It’s a long process but if I get the job then at least I can stop the hunt until the job market expands and numbers begin to grow.
In the next two days I will be heading back to Blacksburg, Va and will resume job hunting soon after.
Anyway, this is a short update. I only took a few pictures (from around UNC – Chapel Hill) but I’ll throw them on the trips page when I get back. There’s not much to take pictures of here in Atlanta and I was busy most of my time in Raleigh. I need to get better about taking pictures, even if they’re just from my phone. Now that I have the iPad it’s nice to be able to use the Places tab in the Photos app to see where exactly pictures were taken and have them physically plotted on a map.
